“Chinchuba Gardens” is a lush, whimsical celebration of the place I call home. Named after my neighborhood—Chinchuba Gardens, the Choctaw word for “alligator”—this vibrant felted artwork brings Louisiana’s most iconic creature to life with joyful color and texture.

Using a blend of wet, Nuno, and needle felting techniques, I layered merino wool, bamboo, silk, viscose, Angelina fibers, and hand-embellished details to create a richly saturated,
mosaic-like alligator surrounded by blooming tropical flora. Bursts of pinks, yellows, blues, and greens form a dreamlike garden oasis, transforming the usually stealthy gator into a radiant, welcoming guardian of our local landscape.
